Schengen Slice is an iOS app built by Nuri Bruner that counts the Schengen 90-days-in-any-180 short-stay rule from trips you enter yourself. This policy explains exactly what happens to your data. The short version: the app has no servers, makes no network requests of its own, and sends nothing to me or anyone else. Your travel history stays on your device and, if you choose, in your own private iCloud.

What I collect

Nothing. There are no accounts, no sign-up, no login, and no server to receive anything. I do not collect your name, email address, location, contacts, device identifiers, or your travel history. There is no advertising identifier (IDFA) and no App Tracking Transparency prompt, because there is nothing to track.

The app contains no networking code at all and no third-party software development kits — no analytics, no crash reporters, no advertising libraries. It is fully offline by construction, not by configuration.

What is stored on your device

To do its job, Schengen Slice stores the following locally on your iPhone:

• Your trips — the country, entry date, exit date, and any note you add.
• Your settings — such as the day count at which you want to be warned, and whether reminders are switched on.
• A small summary shared with the home-screen widget so it can draw your remaining days. It never leaves the device.

iCloud sync

If you are signed in to iCloud and have iCloud Drive enabled, your trips sync between your own devices through Apple's CloudKit using your private database. That is your personal iCloud storage, tied to your Apple Account. I have no access to it: private-database records are not visible to the developer, and there is no mechanism in the app or in CloudKit by which I could read, export, or receive them. This sync is provided and governed by Apple under the Apple Privacy Policy.

If you are not signed in to iCloud, the app simply keeps everything on the device and nothing syncs.

Notifications

Reminders — such as a warning as you approach 90 days, or a nudge before a booked trip becomes a problem — are scheduled locally on your device by iOS. They are not push notifications: no server is involved, no token is registered with me, and the content of a reminder never leaves your iPhone. You can turn them off in the app or in iOS Settings at any time.

Cookies and analytics

There are none. No usage statistics, no session recording, no fingerprinting, no attribution, and no third-party trackers of any kind.

The one thing Apple may share with me

If you have opted in to sharing analytics with app developers in iOS Settings (Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements), Apple may provide me with aggregated, anonymised crash and performance reports for the app. This comes from Apple, not from the app, and it contains no travel data and nothing that identifies you. You can turn it off in iOS Settings. I mention it because it is the only path by which any information related to your use of the app could reach me at all.

Retention and deletion

• A single trip: swipe it away in the Trips list.
• Everything on this device: delete the app. iOS removes its local storage with it.
• Everything in iCloud: iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage, where Schengen Slice's data can be deleted. Because the data lives in your own iCloud account, you control it directly and do not need to ask me.

I hold no copy of anything, so there is no retention period on my side and nothing for me to delete on your behalf.

Children

Schengen Slice is a travel utility intended for a general audience. It is not directed at children, and it collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Your rights (GDPR · UK GDPR · CCPA/CPRA)

Rights of access, rectification, erasure, portability, and objection apply to personal data held by a controller. I hold none: I operate no servers, receive no personal data, and cannot read your iCloud private database. There is therefore nothing for me to disclose, correct, export, or delete — the data is already exclusively in your hands, on your device and in your own Apple Account.

I do not sell or share personal information, and I have never done so. For California readers, Schengen Slice is also not a “business” as the CCPA defines one — it has no revenue and does not buy, sell, or share personal information at any scale — independent of the fact that it collects nothing in the first place. Changes

If this policy changes, the “last updated” date above will change with it. The URL will stay the same, so any link to it from the App Store or from inside the app will keep working.

For completeness: if you email me, I do receive your email address and whatever you write — that is the only way any information about you ever reaches me. I use it solely to reply, it stays in my mailbox like ordinary correspondence, and you can ask me to delete the exchange at any time.
